1. Fruit
There’s nothing like a refreshing piece of fruit on a hot day! Ziploc baggies of watermelon pieces, orange slices, berries, grapes and cherries will fit snugly in your cooler. Don’t have one? Dried fruit (like apple or strawberry chips) will satisfy your sweet tooth and are great on the go. You can make your own dried fruit in the oven, if you’re extra ambitious!
2. Popcorn
Grab a bag at the grocery store before you head to the beach, or make your own at home and season it however you like. Whether you keep it simple with sea salt or choose a bold spice like paprika, you’ll have a healthy snack to munch on as you lounge by the surf.
3. Sliced veggies with hummus
Pack the cooler with carrots, celery, pepper and cucumber slices to dip in your favorite hummus (store-bought or homemade). Snacking on healthy hummus and veggies will satisfy your appetite, and make for a refreshing and nutritious snack amidst the summer heat.
4. Trail mix
Trail mix is wholesome and portable, and it makes for quite the tasty and satisfying beach snack. You can grab a package of it, or make your own at home with crunchy nuts like almonds and cashews, gluten-free cereal, and dried raisins or cranberries.
5. Plantain chips
A bag of plantain chips is the perfect crunchy beach snack. Plantain chips are a great gluten-free substitute for potato chips – they’re satisfyingly crunchy, slightly salty, and plenty wholesome.
